Client: McCann for bmobile
Centered around Carnival and local celebrities, this series of intimate 2-minute docu-ads speaks to the power of connection.
We had the idea to follow local celebrity Anya Ayoung-Chee at Carnival time, and to build up an intimate narrative of her life by conversations she had on her phone. After carefully crafting a docu-ad, we pitched the idea to McCann, who felt it related perfectly to their client – local telecommunications powerhouse, bmobile. They loved the idea, and quickly saw how this project could evolve into a series of promotional pieces for their brand, as the work speaks strongly to the power of connection. We suggested Jillionaire, and they got Voice involved as well. One of our biggest challenges was getting people to forget they were being filmed, but we used a small camera and crew. This helped us to achieve that observational documentary style that makes these pieces both real and relatable.
